The Potential of Encounters in Florian

The exhibition Me, You: The Realm of the In-Between is not merely a collection of drawings; it is a space of visual and emotional confrontation. In it, Florian reveals to us the power of the image in its rawest and most vibrant form: the line on paper. But what pulses most strongly in these works is Raiss’s obsessive scrutiny of the fundamental unit of human experience: the relationship between two people.

Whether in the explicit and feverish realm of erotic desire or in the subtle and complex choreographies of social interaction, Florian Raiss’s drawings function as mirrors that reflect the eternal tension between the self and the other.

In this scrutiny, the artist does not seek static harmony, but rather the vibration of what occurs in the space between two bodies that inhabit not only the paper, but the urgency of the encounter, revealing that every relationship is, ultimately, an act of mutual creation—sometimes violent, sometimes sublime, but always transformative.

This exhibition marks the beginning of a decisive cycle in the artist’s career, serving as a prologue to his upcoming solo exhibition at Paço das Artes, which will be curated by Tadeu Chiarelli. More than an aesthetic preview, this exhibition represents a commitment to the future of Florian’s work: part of the proceeds from sales will be directly invested in making the Paço exhibition possible and in the production of a new catalog, consolidating the historical and critical record of his body of work.
