With a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Faculdade Santa Marcelina, Nino Cais possesses one of the most diverse bodies of work in contemporary Brazilian art—not only in terms of materials, ranging from photography, drawings, and collages to sculptures, videos, and garments, but also in the broad scope of his poetic and narrative discourses. He creates an intermediate universe between the everyday world, which provides the raw material for his works, and a fantastical environment with fictional roots based on literature, theater, and visual arts. Nino Cais cuts, pastes, sews, draws—he is both inside and outside the artwork, both character and author.

The artist participated in the 30th São Paulo Biennial, The Imminence of Poetics (2012), and regularly takes part in solo and group exhibitions across Latin America and the United States. In 2020, his work became part of the exhibition collection of the Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo.
